Who is behind it
Race Day Vault is run by João Ascenso, a sole trader based in Leiria, Portugal. There is no large team and no investors here: it is a small project, with an identifiable person behind it and a contact address that gets read.
The idea is simple. A race produces thousands of photos and an athlete only wants their own. Instead of making them scroll through entire galleries, Race Day Vault reads the bib numbers in the photos and returns only the ones the person appears in — by bib number or, in races where the organizer enables it, by face recognition.
Commitments
- It is always free for athletes: finding and downloading your photos needs no account, no app and no payment, unless the organizer has enabled photo sales.
- The selfie submitted for face search is analysed on the spot and never stored.
- Face recognition data is processed on infrastructure in the European Union and deleted with the event.
- Photos are deleted when the event is archived — at most six months after the race.
- Public event pages use no advertising or tracking cookies, and no personal data is sold.
- If you appear in a photo and want it removed, just write in — the request goes to the organizer, and if there is no answer within a reasonable time we remove it ourselves.
